After back-to-back statement wins over the Lions and Commanders, the Green Bay Packers suddenly look like the team to beat in the NFL. For all the preseason talk about whether this roster was ready to take the next step, these last two weeks have silenced all of the critics. A balanced offense, a relentless defense, and the impact of a new star pass rusher have all combined to put the Packers at the top of the league conversation. So, are the Packers now the best team in football?
One of the biggest differences has been the addition of Micah Parsons to this Green Bay defense. His presence has completely transformed the pass rush, giving the Packers the kind of disruptive force they’ve lacked for years. With Parsons drawing constant attention, it has opened up opportunities for other defenders, and the ripple effect has made this defensive unit play faster with more aggression and confidence than before. Against both the Lions and Commanders, the Packers consistently pressured the quarterback, forcing hurried throws, generating sacks, and creating turnovers that shifted the momentum.
On offense, the story has been balance. Too often in recent years, Green Bay leaned too heavily on the arm of its quarterback or stalled when the run game disappeared. That hasn’t been the case during this hot start. The Packers have blended a strong rushing attack with efficient, timely passing, keeping defenses guessing and moving the chains with consistency. This balance has allowed them to control tempo, wear down opponents, and make explosive plays when opportunities arise.
What makes these two wins feel so significant is the quality of the opponents. Detroit came into the season as the NFC North favorite, and Washington featured one of the league’s most explosive offenses from last year. Beating both teams in a convincing fashion has positioned Green Bay as more than just an early-season storyline. They’ve shown they can win tough, physical games while also playing with the kind of explosiveness that championship teams need. If the Packers can sustain this formula, there may be no ceiling on what they can accomplish this season.
